Leuco-Exo(SH) Microbial Extracellular Vesicle for Hair & Skin

Bring next-generation exosome science to your cosmetic formulations. Leuco-Exo(SH) delivers Leuconostoc extracellular vesicles isolated via GFC's proprietary Hybrid-Exotech method. With ~118.2 nm particles, 7 hair-growth-factor response data, and a 12-week human hair-density study, this is a specialised active for professional scalp and skincare development.

What is Leuco-Exo(SH)?

Leuco-Exo(SH) is GFC Life Sciences' microbial extracellular vesicle ingredient, isolated from its proprietary Leuconostoc GFC1203H strain using the Hybrid-Exotech method. It is supplied as a colourless, clear liquid in a water-based carrier.

INCI: Water, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Leuconostoc Extracellular Vesicles

This is a cosmetic raw material for professional formulators. It is not a finished consumer product.

The Science Behind It

What Are Exosomes?

Extracellular vesicles (exosomes) are nanoscale membrane-bound particles (approximately 50–200 nm) released by cells. They carry proteins, nucleic acids, DNA, mRNA, and lipids, functioning as messengers that transmit genetic information between cells. Their natural roles include tissue growth, regeneration, and immune regulation.

The Leuco-Exo Difference

Leuco-Exo is specifically microbe-derived. GFC's research began with scalp sampling across age groups (n=80), leading to the identification of a lactic acid bacterial strain associated with people in their teens and twenties: Leuconostoc GFC1203H. This strain was identified through 16S rDNA sequencing and deposited under patent KCTC14077BP.

The vesicles feature a phospholipid-bilayer structure (the same architecture as human cell membranes) and have been characterised by Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA) at approximately 118.2 nm. At this scale, they are 184–462 times smaller than skin pores, supporting efficient delivery to target cells.

Key Benefits & Research Data

Hair Growth Factors (In Vitro) Increased all 7 assessed hair-growth factors with Leuco-Exo treatment
Human Hair Density Study 14.54% improvement at 12 weeks (Korea Dermatology Research Institute)
Skin Regeneration (In Vitro) ~50% greater wound-healing response vs. control
Cell Survival (In Vitro) Inhibited cell death and increased growth rate in apoptosis assay
Antioxidant Activity Greater free-radical scavenging than the type strain
Scalp Health Support Inhibits bacteria associated with dandruff and scalp inflammation
KGF Expression Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF) mRNA expression in hair-growth research

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the INCI name?
Water, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Leuconostoc Extracellular Vesicles.
Is this human stem-cell exosome?
No. Leuco-Exo contains microbial extracellular vesicles derived from Leuconostoc GFC1203H, isolated using GFC's proprietary Hybrid-Exotech method.
What makes this ingredient distinctive?
Its proprietary scalp-derived microbial strain (GFC1203H), ~118.2 nm NTA-characterised particles, and research spanning hair-growth-factor responses, human hair density, and skin-cell regeneration assays.
What did the human hair study find?
The Korea Dermatology Research Institute study reported test-group hair-density improvements of 9.41% at week 4, 12.02% at week 8, and 14.54% at week 12.
What usage range is recommended?
GFC recommends 1.0 – 4.0% of the supplied ingredient in finished cosmetic formulations.
Is this the same as Salmon PDRN?
No. Leuco-Exo is a microbial extracellular-vesicle ingredient. Salmon PDRN is a different ingredient category (DNA fragments derived from salmon). They are not the same and are not interchangeable.
Is a COA available?
Yes. COA is available upon request.
