Lavender Essential Oil (INCI: Lavandula Angustifolia Flower Oil) is the most widely used, most studied, and most universally beloved essential oil in the world. Calming yet uplifting, floral yet herbaceous, gentle yet genuinely effective — lavender essential oil is the single most versatile botanical ingredient available to aromatherapists, cosmetic formulators, and natural skincare enthusiasts. From its extraordinary calming and sleep-promoting aromatherapy benefits to its well-documented skin-healing, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory topical properties, lavender essential oil is the one oil that truly does it all.
At CosmetiHub, we supply 100% pure Lavandula Angustifolia essential oil — steam distilled, unadulterated, and of consistent quality for both aromatherapy and professional cosmetic formulation.
What is Lavender Essential Oil?
Lavender Essential Oil is produced by steam distillation of the flowering tops of Lavandula angustifolia — true lavender, the finest and most therapeutically valuable species of the lavender family. It is composed primarily of linalool and linalyl acetate — the two compounds responsible for its signature floral, herbaceous scent and the majority of its documented therapeutic properties. True Lavandula angustifolia is meaningfully different from lavandin (Lavandula x intermedia) — a cheaper hybrid with a harsher, more camphoraceous character — and our oil is supplied as genuine Lavandula angustifolia for consistent quality and authentic therapeutic performance.

Applications
Aromatherapy Lavender essential oil is the definitive aromatherapy oil — used in diffusers, inhalers, and steam inhalation for stress, anxiety, sleep, and emotional support. 3-5 drops in a diffuser creates an immediate calming atmosphere. A few drops on a pillow or in a bedtime room spray is one of the most effective natural sleep aids available.
Skincare Diluted in a carrier oil at 1-3%, lavender essential oil is used in facial serums, body oils, spot treatments, and soothing skin formulations. Its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties make it a gentle but effective addition to acne-targeted and sensitive skin formulations. It pairs beautifully with jojoba, rosehip, and sweet almond oil.
Haircare Used in scalp treatments and hair oils for its antifungal and anti-inflammatory scalp benefits. Lavender is one of the few essential oils studied specifically for hair growth — a 2016 study in Toxicological Research found lavender oil application significantly increased the number of hair follicles and deepened follicle depth in animal models.
Perfumery & Fragrance Lavender is a foundational ingredient in the fougère fragrance family and appears in countless floral, fresh, and aromatic compositions. It blends particularly well with linalool, DHM, coumarin, bergamot, and woody base notes — all available at CosmetiHub for complete fragrance formulation.
Home Fragrance Used in diffusers, room sprays, linen sprays, and candles for its calming, clean, universally appealing fragrance character.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between lavender and lavandin? Lavandula angustifolia (true lavender) and Lavandula x intermedia (lavandin) are related but meaningfully different. True lavender has a softer, more refined floral character with higher linalyl acetate content and superior therapeutic properties — particularly for calming and skin applications. Lavandin has a sharper, more camphoraceous character due to its higher camphor content and is cheaper to produce. Our oil is genuine Lavandula angustifolia — the premium therapeutic species.
Can lavender essential oil be applied neat to skin? Lavender is one of very few essential oils traditionally applied neat for spot treatment of minor burns, insect bites, and blemishes. However, for regular or widespread skin use, dilution in a carrier oil at 1-3% is always recommended — particularly for sensitive skin types. Neat application to large skin areas can cause sensitization over time even with a gentle oil like lavender.
Is lavender effective for sleep? Yes — lavender is one of the most consistently evidence-supported natural sleep aids. Multiple clinical studies have demonstrated improvements in sleep quality, reduced nighttime waking, and decreased sleep latency with lavender aromatherapy. 2-3 drops on a pillowcase, a bedside diffuser running for 30 minutes before sleep, or a lavender-infused pillow spray are the most effective delivery methods.
What does lavender blend well with? Lavender is one of the most universally compatible essential oils and blends beautifully with almost everything. Particularly excellent combinations include lavender with bergamot and cedarwood for a classic calming blend, lavender with eucalyptus and peppermint for a respiratory blend, and lavender with rosemary and castor oil for a hair growth treatment.
Is this oil safe for children? Lavender is one of the gentlest essential oils and is widely used in diluted form for children. For children over 2 years, use at 0.5-1% dilution in a carrier oil. Always keep essential oils out of reach of young children and avoid use around infants under 2 years without professional guidance.

Fragrance is not that good
I added a few drops of this lavender oil in aloe vera gel and used it as night cream. Skin fresh lagti hai subah. Acne marks bhi slowly fade ho rahe hain. Highly recommend for sensitive skin!
Thoda sa oil sir pe lagaya with carrier oil, aur headache mein sakoon mila. Bedtime pe diffuser mein daalne se neend peaceful hoti hai. Scent natural hai, bilkul hard nahi.
